Region of
Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast

A multicultural region: Caribbean Sea, tropical forests and Indigenous communities

Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast stretches for around 500 km between... Bluefields in the south and Puerto Cabezas in the north. Long isolated from the rest of the country, it is now more accessible thanks to roads opened from El Rama and regular flights from Managua. This region stands out for its ethnic diversity (Miskitos, Garifunas, Creoles, Ramas) and varied natural environments: tropical forests, mangroves, lagoons and coral islands. Travellers can dive on the Corn Islands reefs, discover Garifuna culture in Orinoco, or paddle a dugout canoe across Laguna de Perlas.
