Heading for the Solentiname Archipelago
Challenge #2: Take your timeFrom Popoyo beach, your driver will take you to the port of Colon, your embarkation point on Lake Nicaragua.Los Guatuzos Nature Reserve and Solentiname archipelagoFrom Colon, transfer by boat to the islands of the Solentiname archipelago. Check into your hotel on San Fernando Island and take time to visit the island’s small museum and handicraft cooperative, before enjoying a sumptuous sunset, known as one of the most beautiful in Nicaragua. Discovering the Solentiname Archipelago
This morning, you’ll set off for a full day’s exploration of the Solentiname Islands. You’ll start your visit on the island of Mancarron, famous for its small church and park, and for its museum recounting the history of the archipelago. You’ll move on to the small monkey island and then on to Isla San Fernando and Isla La Venada, famous for its painters and their colourful naïve art. Before spending the night in the heart of nature, you’ll enjoy a colorful sunset over these islands. Overnight at your hotel on the archipelago
Explore the Guatuzos nature reserve
Challenge #3: Observe NatureYou’ll set off at first light towards the Los Guatuzos reserve, located on the southern shores of Lake Nicaragua on the border with Costa Rica. You’ll spend the morning discovering this 430km² haven of life, home to many different types of ecosystem.
Accompanied by your guide, you’ll discover incredible flora and fauna on foot and by boat: monkeys, crocodiles, turtles, toucans, iguanas, orchids and trees typical of the primary forest. From the Guatuzos reserve, you’ll travel by boat to the shore of Lake Nicaragua at the port of San Carlos, at the mouth of the Rio San Juan.

Discover the Indio Maiz nature reserve
In the morning, your local specialist will guide you to the Indio Maiz Reserve. This reserve is Nicaragua’s second largest expanse of protected rainforest. Nicknamed the Pearl of Central America’s reserves by specialists, it is incredibly rich in biodiversity. You’ll be able to observe hundreds of different species of birds, reptiles, mammals and trees.Afternoon free to enjoy the little village of El Castillo, an unusual and timeless place on the banks of the Rio San Juan. Take a stroll through the village’s narrow streets, meet the locals and perhaps hear the children’s stories of the day. Overnight at your hotel

Challenge 4: Let yourself be carried along by the rhythm of the waterKayaking on the Rio Santa CruzYou’ll set off from your hotel in a kayak and navigate the Rio Santa Cruz river to observe the many birds and amphibians of the region. You’ll also witness scenes from the daily life of the communities living on the riverbank. Return by boat to the hotel.Caiman TourAt dusk, around 6:30 pm, you’ll set off on the wild waters of the Rio San Juan. With your local guide, you’ll search for caimans, iguanas and crocodiles in the dark. Overnight at your hotel.
Visit Granada
From the small village of El Castillo, you’ll travel by boat to the town of San Carlos, then on to Granada, the Gran Sultana. Then on to Granada, la Gran Sultana, passing through several small villages such as Villa Sandino, Juigalpa, …land of the sabaneros, the Central American cowboys you’ll meet on their horses.Guided tour of Granada Accompanied by your local guide, you’ll discover the city of Granada, La Gran Sultana, a colonial jewel. You’ll visit the city’s main historical, religious and lifestyle sites: Xalteva Park, La Pólvora fortress, Granada cemetery, La Merced church, Antigua train station and the former San Francisco convent. Explore the Isletas de Granada & a night under the stars
Challenge 5: Sleep under the stars on an islandSet out to discover Las Isletas, an archipelago of islands off the coast of Granada. In the early afternoon, you’ll set off by boat to explore these islets, where today some Nicaraguans have established their vacation homes. There are almost 400 of these basaltic islands, and you’ll enjoy excellent views of the proud Mombacho volcano, as well as spotting numerous animals. You’ll reach a private, 100% natural island where the owners are committed to preserving this little piece of floating paradise. You can use the kayaks to explore the surrounding area and admire the fauna and flora of this archipelago up close. Enjoy a typical Nicaraguan dinner under the rancho and settle in on the island for a night under the stars!

Depart this morning for your Photo Tour. Depart by boat to observe the different species of local birds and traditional local fishing. For lunch, you’ll enjoy fresh barbecued fish. Overnight on the private island.
