Climb El Hoyo & Cerro Negro volcanoes
Climbing the El Hoyo and Cerro Negro volcanoesThis day is devoted to discovering two volcanoes in the department of Léon: Pilas El Hoyo and Cerro Negro.In the morning, you’ll start by climbing the Pilas El Hoyo volcano, whose summit reaches an altitude of 1050 meters. This active volcano is part of a 30 km-long volcanic chain and has a huge crater from which fumaroles escape. You’ll take a picnic break with a breathtaking view of this imposing hole in the volcano. After a five-hour walk, and having descended from the Pilas El Hoyo volcano, you’ll continue on to Central America’s youngest volcano. Born in 1850, Cerro Negro peaks at just 728 metres above sea level. An hour’s walk will take you to the summit, from where you can observe the crater’s sulphur walls and the traces of its various eruptions. You can then choose to sandboard (optional), run or simply slide down the volcano’s ashes.Note: approx. 6 hours’ trek in total – medium difficulty.Overnight in León
Farniente on the beaches of las Peñitas
Free day to enjoy the Pacific coast on Las Peñitas beach, or head off to discover Isla Juan Venado and its spectacular mangroves. You’ll have the chance to spot numerous birds and crocodiles, and enjoy a heavenly sunset at the end of the day. You can also take advantage of the beach to swim, rent a surfboard or practice other water sports. Overnight in León
Telica volcano ascent & bivouac on the volcano slopes
Ascent and overnight stay in tents at Volcan TelicaDepart in the middle of the day for the Telica volcano, one of the most active in the region, starting with a visit to the Hervideros de San Jacinto, an area of hyperactive fumaroles. At the foot of the Telica volcano, this small village lives at the whim of the colossus. You’ll be able to observe various volcanic manifestations, including bubbling baths and the omnipresent smell of sulfur. Many legends and myths surround this timeless place, and the ascent begins. You’ll hike at your own pace, as the slopes become more and more challenging. Once at the top, you’ll set up camp on the flanks of the crater. As night falls, you can approach the crater to observe its dizzying depths and smell the sulphur and heat of the volcanic rocks. At night, you’ll even be able to see some of the molten lava mouths. You’ll return to your camp for dinner under the stars, before settling into your tent.Note: Approximately 3/4-hour walk for the ascent
End of trek and road to Laguna de Apoyo
At the crack of dawn, you’ll have the opportunity to walk back to the crater rim. The sunrise over the valley and the Maribios chain of volcanoes is breathtaking when the sky is clear. You’ll then head back to camp for breakfast, before returning down the hiking trails to León.
Note: approx. 3 hours’ walk for the descent. From León, drive towards the Laguna de Apoyo.We suggest you take a stroll through the Masaya market, one of the most important in the country and renowned for its colorful local crafts. You can then visit the village of Catarina, whose main activity is the production of bamboo furniture. You’ll also enjoy the viewpoint with its superb view of the city of Granada, the Great Lake and its islands, the Laguna de Apoyo and the Mombacho volcano. Afterwards, continue to the Laguna de Apoyo, an ancient volcanic crater now filled with fresh water, where you can take a refreshing dip. Check-in at your hotel in La Laguna de Apoyo and spend the night on the shores of the Laguna de Apoyo.
Snorkeling, Laguna de Apoyo
SnorkelingIn the enchanting setting of the Laguna de Apoyo, a freshwater lake in the crater of a volcano, we offer you the chance to discover the basics of snorkeling. Following a theory course, you’ll be accompanied by your instructor to try your first snorkeling dive. After a few tests in shallow water, you’ll be able to dive to a depth of 15/20 meters (2/3 minutes apnea) by the end of the 2 days.Minimum age: 10 yearsOvernight stay on the shores of Laguna de Apoyo

The volcanic lagoon offers crystal-clear waters of exceptional clarity, ideal for exploring the richness of its aquatic fauna.
With just a mask and snorkel, you can observe endemic species and admire the play of light dancing on the sandy bottom.
In addition to its underwater beauty, the lagoon is surrounded by lush nature, providing an ideal setting for relaxing after a diving session.

Departure from Laguna de Apoyo for Granada, Nicaragua’s colonial jewel.Free time to explore GranadaWe suggest you discover this colonial jewel on foot or by horse-drawn carriage. You can visit the Cathedral, the Merced church and the Xalteva church, around which the city of Granada was originally built. You can climb the tower of the La Merced church to get a bird’s eye view of the city and the lake. Then, we invite you to immerse yourself in the central market and its colorful stalls. Drive from Granada to the port of San Jorge. Board the ferry to the island of Ometepe.Overnight in Ometepe.
Climbing the Concepción volcano, Ometepe island
Ascent of the Concepción volcanoYou’ll be accompanied by a local guide as you begin your ascent of the volcano via its mirador, which offers a superb view of Ometepe Island and the Maderas volcano. You’ll then climb the 1,610-metre ascent to its conical crater. Volcan Concepción is an active stratovolcano. Since 1883, it has erupted at least 25 times, most recently on March 9, 2010. Its eruptions are characterized by frequent, moderate explosions. Active fumaroles are present just north of the summit crater.Note: 9-hour trek, difficult level.Overnight at Ometepe.
Relax, Ojo de Agua natural pools
You’ll then relax in the natural waters ofOjo de Agua, an underground river originating from the Maderas volcano and emerging in two basins. There’s nothing like a good swim and a cocktail to cool you down in these temperatures! Overnight in Ometepe
Climbing the Maderas volcano
Ascent of the Maderas volcanoYou’ll pass through different types of vegetation, fully immersed in the luxuriant forest that covers the lower part of the volcano. This volcano is an inactive colossus with an unusual ecosystem, a humid forest with an infinite number of epiphytic plants. You will then reach the summit of the volcano at 1394 metres to observe the lagoon at the edge of the crater.Note: 7 to 9 hours trekking, difficult level.Overnight in Ometepe.

Drive to the port of Moyogalpa to take the ferry to San Jorge, Rivas, then on to your hotel on the Pacific Ocean.Free afternoon to relax on one of Nicaragua’s beautiful Pacific beaches.You can explore the surrounding wild beaches, discover typical dishes in restaurants ideally located on the seafront and end your day with one of the most beautiful sunsets of your stay.
